We like to think of ourselves as amateur fish and chip connoisseurs, always on the hunt across the Northeast for the region’s best. Today, we stumbled upon a little gem right on our doorstep in Lanchester—Grandpar’s Fish Bar.

A huge well done to the young owners and staff for delivering a truly memorable fish and chip experience. 10/10.

We tried Grandpa’s fish bar recently and we thought it was superb. The fish, sausage and chips were all very tasty, crisp and fresh and the sauces were excellent too - particularly the irish curry sauce which we loved. Many fish and chip shops typically have lots of grease with the food you’re served, but this surprisingly had little to none which made it unique and added to our enjoyment. We’ll be back soon for sure

Been wanting to try Grandpa’s Fish Bar since it opened, it did not disappoint. Staff were all very friendly and the food didn’t take too long to cook. I had scampi and chips and my Husband had cod and chips. Both tasty. Melt in your mouth cod and the scampi was delicious and a good size. Would definitely have that again. Canny selection of soft drinks too.

Amazing fish and chips. Just like Beamish and fab to have in the village. Friendly and fun staff too. Irish curry approved by the Irish folk in my house. My kids love the chip cones too. Also like videos lads - keep them coming :)
